Power Fund Board Meeting, Public Forum Scheduled For July 9, 2008 In Jefferson
DES MOINES— The Iowa Power Fund board of directors will hold three of its monthly meetings in locations around the state starting on July 9 in Jefferson. This meeting, as well as the other two summer meetings of the Power Fund directors, will be followed by an evening public forum on energy issues.
The July 9 meeting of the Power Fund directors will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Saint Joseph’s Parish Hall at 501 North Locust Street in Jefferson. The July meeting will include presentations by 3 applicants for funding. They will include: the City of Fairfield for a municipal sustainability effort, the Renewable Energy Group for biodiesel alternative feedstock research, and Maharishi University for an algae bioreactor. There will also be a discussion about a proposal from Poet for cellulosic ethanol development.
The evening public forum begins the second in a series of annual forums hosted by the Office of Energy Independence. The forum in Jefferson will also be held at the Saint Joseph’s Parish Hall and will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The Power Fund board of directors will hold meetings in Mount Vernon in August and in Algona in September. Public forums will follow each of these meetings. Other public forums for 2008 are tentatively scheduled for Decorah in October, Sioux City in November, and a location in southeastern Iowa in December.
